晚上去了ICAB 的 open class of starter seminar, ICAB是VUB专门将研究成果带入市场开发的机构,他们会帮你研究市场开发,法律问题,以及得到种子基金。这将是10节课35小时的浓缩的创业课,涉及到市场开发,资金运作,法律,IP保护等相关的问题。原来没有注意到自己家不远走不到一分钟就是ICAB的创业大楼,外部看起来就是个大厂房,就像是奋斗中那伙人住的废弃的厂房一样,但是经过改造内部看起来很气派,现代和复古结合。一楼有许多小隔间,那是给incubator,每个新创业公司准备的环境,绝对不会差,事实上我觉得相当的棒。

6点半左右开始的课,早来十几分钟签到,还有来了不少的人,一半的人是来自社会上,另外一半来自学校有硕士,博士。一个巴基斯坦叫阿里的说他是学investing europ,居然就是和婷婷,谢旖一起上课的外国学生,夹在一大班中国学生中,他们真的是显得太稀有了。还有在烧烤会上见到的生物学的博士,以及在ULB的vincent,和他聊了很久,挺投机的。因为我听不懂广东话,所以用英语交流却还更方便。

open class开始之前大厅有些吃的,一些小的汉堡和酒水,果汁,周到的我在想是不是以后还会有呢?

今天的课是关于business ecosystem,虽然提到很多熟悉的概念比如market,但是每个熟悉的概念上带着更多经验,更深的理解,更多的例子,所以要说与课本相比,课程的重要性就体现出来了,把理论到实践的过度就是经验。把market细分到各个方向,

segment,niche。segment means more big, niche means more specialization.

segments in business – consumer,  segments in business – business 的角度是不同的。

To win vertical markets, you have to understand the sector, more often a seasoned professional is a must to succeed.  You have to know the logic inside that vertical markets

Find your core competence, take IP , and then build links to the revelant vertical markets

Markets are time dependent, if you focus on a specific market. also it merge (Iphone), split(personal computer), dis(appear)

Be one part of value chain,

What you do?

find the place where you lives in, to be more horizontal view

ceate own niche/segment market, change ‘it is the way it is’

niche market becomes bigger

Standards

it is significant to bet on standards, choose a standards and work on standards. and get involved in standards community

standards battle – > build a ecosystem. some standards are better, but failed to build a ecosystem

lock yourself into a system because switching a system is costly and expensive in learning and money, time(change windows to linux)

networked impacts  value depends on number of user, the challenge is how to obtain number of user

direct (sms, facebook, ) indirect()  user – supplier

三个小时的课一点也没有枯燥,充斥着很多的现实身边的例子,apple,ebay,ebook,VUB的3D摄像头公司等等。9点多就结束了,比想象的要早一个小时,之后我,vincent在大厅聊天,那里还在不断供应着酒水,要了橙汁和红酒,还不时有精致的小料理,放在小小的盘子里,精致的就如同艺术一般,要了生鱼片和虾,虽然填不了肚子,但满足了口福。和教授聊天也很有意思,看着他有点醉了,还在不停的喝,他说了不少incubator的事情,告诉我们Every Disadvantage Has Its Advantage,取决于你的方向。vincent看来是很想在这方面发展。

我决定上完剩下的课,有两门关于IP和marketing会因为回中国而拉下,得想办法来录音。

有点点醉意,醉翁之意不在酒,在乎山水之间也
